We provide camps and equine related programs during the year for adults
and children alike. There is a place at Ivy Rock Farms for all types of
riders and horse lovers. We sponsor many different programs to get people
who loves horses to become a part of something they really enjoy. Below
is information on current camps and programs.
The
Saddle Club
Learning doesn’t stop when the final school bell rings. At the Saddle
Club kids will use equine exploration to engage in activities that build
self-confidence and awareness, a sense of responsibility, decision-making
skills, and social cooperation. Our equine activities also foster an
active lifestyle in a safe, positive, supportive and respectful environment.
Children are supervised at all times and will be personally greeted off the bus and
escorted to our facilities. We have a heated indoor riding arena and
heated work room with vending machines and restroom. In case of severe
inclement weather, we relocate to a heated house on the premises. Each
day a free snack will be provided during a one hour minimum mandatory
homework or study period. After each homework session the children will
spend their remaining time participating in various independent and group
equine activities related to the horse knowledge theme of the week. The
Club meets daily after school until 6pm. Members may choose to come daily
or come when they can. Click to download sign-up brochure and pricing.
Horsemanship Skills I & Horsemanship Skills II Workshop Sundays
This is a very economical way to explore the first lessons that all horsman
must learn. We begin with exploring the basics of grooming, foot care,
saddling, and handling horses safely, while on the ground. Students progress
to advanced studies like first aid, horse science and anatomy. These workshops
are wonderful for parents of riders or adults that wish to expand their
education.
Mens Night and Ladies Night
Are you getting back in the saddle? Have you watched your children ride
but never dared to jump on yourself? These groups are wonderful for our
adult riders. Meeting Monday and Wednesday nights, our adults have an
opportunity to ride, have fun, and enjoy the company of other adults.
Riders are of all levels and disciplines. It is a super flexible group
and you can pop in when it is most convenient for you. Call Alexis for
more information.
Team Ivy Rock/ Horse Shows
Local outside horse shows are available to all students and boarders.
Those students interested are encouraged to join in. By no means is Ivy
Rock a "show barn" that forces students to compete, however
many of our students enjoy good competition and love to show off their
skills outside the farm. If you are interested in joining the Team, please
contact your instructor for information.
Please be aware that all show expenses (ie: trailering to & from show,
class entrance fees, horse rental, show clothes, etc.) are the responsibility
of the student or parent. Team membership is a $100 yearly fee which includes
a team jacket, 3-5 FREE clinics each year, and discounted rental and trailering
fee.
Summer Camps
We provide summer camps for adults and children alike. During the week,
students will be instructed about all aspects of horsemanship including
riding, horse health and management, tack care and cleaning, horse behavior
and most importantly SAFETY.
Camp weeks are open to any rider (over age 6, unless they have approval
of instructor), discipline, and experience. We try to group campers in
the same age range for the same week. Instructors will break the group
apart according to discipline and experience for riding but the group
will stay together for horsemanship and horse science. This makes it easier
for friends to join the same week even if one is more experienced than
the other. If you need a specific week due to vacation plans please choose
the week(s) that best suite your schedule and we will try accomodate your
needs. The first campers that sign up will help depict which week will
be for which group.
Long pants and heeled boots are required. We do have a rental stock available
but arrangements must be made a week prior to your camp. Safety helmets
can be provided, but it is recommended that you purchase your own.
Whinnies and Knickers in Newburgh, NY offers all our riders a discount!
